The test setup consists of a box that is divided into a small (one-third) dark compartment and a large (two-thirds) brightly illuminated compartment. Mice were placed into the illuminated compartment and allowed to move freely between the two chambers. The first latency to enter the dark compartment and the total time spent in the bright compartment were indicators of bright-space anxiety in mice. Switching is an indicator of activity exploration due to habituation over time.The LDT is quick and easy to use and requires no prior training of the animal.
